87% Not Ready for Apocalypse (Pew Research Forum)
So, one of the blogs I subscribe to is the Pew Research Forum’s blog. They describe themselves as
The Pew Research Center is a nonpartisan “fact tank” that provides information on the issues, attitudes and trends shaping America and the world. It does so by conducting public opinion polling and social science research; by reporting news and analyzing news coverage; and by holding forums and briefings. It does not take positions on policy issues.
This morning’s entry on the blog was titled:
It sounded interesting, so I had a look. The story reports that 87% are “unprepared to protect themselves from even the most basic world-ending scenarios.” The source of this information: The Onion!
Then I remember the date today. Kudos to the usually very straight faced Pew Research Forum for a very unique, very funny April Fool’s joke. For those who might not know The Onion, it is one of the premier satirical news sites available on the internet.
