Commentary & Analysis
This song tells its tale from the perspective of a world waiting for its Savior. A world a little more than 2,000 years ago, not entirely unlike our own waited for a Savior that would come in the form of a little baby in a manger.
Tears are falling, hearts are breaking
How we need to hear from God
No doubt countless thousands in our world today feel the same way, but we must not lose sight of the fact that our Savior has already come. He was born as a baby in that manger, lived a sinless life, died for our sins and was raised on the third day. Today, He is alive. And, one day, he will wipe away every tear. He is indeed the “perfect Son of God.”
Questions for Further Reflection / Devotion
- How does God’s promise to wipe away every in the future affect the way you live today?
- Take a minute to reflect on all of the desperate or hurting times that God has helped you out of this past year. How about the rest of your life?
- Had you been present at the first coming of Christ at Christmas, what do you think your reactions would have been?
- What do you think the second coming of Christ would be like?
Lyrics
Tears are falling, hearts are breaking
How we need to hear from God
You’ve been promised, we’ve been waiting
Welcome Holy Child
Welcome Holy Child
Hope that you don’t mind our manger
How I wish we would have known
But long awaited Holy Stranger
Make yourself at home
Please make yourself at home
Bring your peace into our violence
Bid our hungry souls be filled
Word now breaking Heaven’s silence
Welcome to our world
Welcome to our world
Fragile finger sent to heal us
Tender brow prepared for thorn
Tiny heart whose blood will save us
Unto us is born
Unto us is born
So wrap our injured flesh around You
Breathe our air and walk our sod
Rob our sin and make us holy
Perfect Son of God
Perfect Son of God
Welcome to our world
