Introduction
Continuing with the specific prophecies of the Messiah’s arrest, trial and crucifixion, we learn that the Messiah would fall under the weight of the cross.
Old Testament Prophecy
My knees give way from fasting; my body is thin and gaunt. I am an object of scorn to my accusers; when they see me, they shake their heads. [Psalms 109:24-25 NIV]
New Testament Fulfillment
After they had mocked him, they took off the robe and put his own clothes on him. Then they led him away to crucify him. As they were going out, they met a man from Cyrene, named Simon, and they forced him to carry the cross. [Matthew 27:31-32 NIV]
Carrying his own cross, he went out to the place of the Skull (which in Aramaic is called Golgotha). [John 19:17 NIV]
