What Matters Now in Children’s Ministry – The Teaser Post

wmn_badgeThere  is a great new resource that will be available to the Children’s Ministry community beginning this coming Monday, May 17, 2010.  The name of the resource is What Matters Now in Children’s Ministry.

This book brings together a veritable who’s who in the Children’s Ministry community to answer the question posed in the title in of the book.  33 contributors share their view of what really matters in children’s ministry in the for of one word and a short snippet (200 words or less) expanding on their choice.  Contributors include:

  • Matt Guevara
  • Amy Dolan
  • Henry Zonio
  • Liz Perraud
  • Dan Scott
  • Christine Yount Jones
  • Ivy Beckwith
  • Anthony Prince
  • Michael Chanley
  • Gina McClain
  • Sam Luce
  • Kenny Conley
  • Karl Bastian
  • Larry Shallenberger
  • Rob Rienow
  • David Wakerly
  • The Lads
  • The guys from Timbuktoons

Given that list, I probably should just list all the contributors, but I have to hold something back for the official release on Monday!  Now, here’s the best part of all, this resource (did I mention that it will be available for download on Monday?) when it is made available will easily fit within your budget.  How do you know it will fit in my budget you ask?  I know because this book is (he says in his best late night infomercial voice) absolutely, positively, 100% free.  Furthermore, your satisfaction is guaranteed, or you get your $0.00 back.

I will post more on Monday following the official release, but I can say that this is a resource that you will want to have in your file and want to provide to everyone in your children’s ministry and likely to your senior pastor as well.  In addition to the wealth of knowledge and thought provoking commentary in the book, it is visually stimulating in its simplicity.  For that, the publishers would like to thank Imago.  In addition to the downloadable version which is coming Monday (at the unbelievable price of $0), there will be a print version available sometime this coming summer for those of you interested in that.

Now that you are, I trust, thoroughly excited about this book and counting the minutes until you can read it on Monday, make sure to “like” the What Matters Now in Children’s Ministry page on facebook.  You can also follow the book on twitter (imagine that, following an inanimate object :)) at http://twitter.com/cmwhatmatters.  There are tons of plans for additional ways planned for you, the reader, to interact with the authors and the ideas presented in this book.  I will provide additional information and a link to download the book as soon as it is publicly available on Monday!  I will also be giving my review of the book and my insights into what some of the issues these authors raise in the book.  My mind is already racing.  Until Monday then, here’s to you having happy dreams about crayons in anticipation of the book!

P.S. – For those of you who stopped by for the weekly Saturday video – this is way more exciting.  Also, the video originally planned for today will be posted on Sunday, so make sure to stop back by!

You can find a link to this, and all the other articles I’ve done related to this book, on my What Matters Now in Children’s Ministry Page.
