In the February installment of The Children’s Ministry Blog Patrol (February 2010), I featured an article from the blog of Donna Perugini. That lead a brief exchange via e-mail in which she mentioned that she had written several children’s books. She was kind enough to send me a free copy of one of her books titled “Don’t Hug a Grudge” for me to review for Dad in the Middle.
About the Author
Before jumping into the book, I like to know a little bit about the author. Ms. Perugini’s blog indicates that she taught children the Word of God over 30 years. Her blog indicates that her approach to teaching the Bible included “cutting it into bite-sized pieces and making it fun and entertaining.” In addition to Don’t Hug A Grudge, she has authored three other children’s books. They include:Read More
Today, I have big news to share with the readers of this blog! It’s been a little over a year now since I started earnestly writing this blog here at Dad in the Middle. In that time, I have made a number of online acquaintances within the children’s ministry community who are also bloggers. I have learned a lot from them and have enjoyed sharing my own thoughts here on Dad in the Middle.
For those of you who are consistent readers of this blog, you know that one of my favorite sites for children’s ministry tips and ideas is Ministry-to-Children.com. Over the last year, I have participated a number of times in their Children’s Ministry Think Tanks, promoted their forums, participated in their Kidmin Blog Madness Tournament, and included their articles in the monthly Children’s Ministry Blog Patrol more than any other single blog. Ministry-to-Children.com is one of the largest and fastest growing children’s ministry sites on the internet today.
So, when Tony Kummer asked me to join the talented team of writers he has assembled for Ministry-to-Children, it was an opportunity which I had to jump at. So, I am pleased to announce that, starting today, I will be publishing several articles a month on that site as well.Read More
Welcome to The Children’s Ministry Blog Patrol. Every month we gather links from around the blogging world related to Children’s Ministry and issues important to those who work in Children’s Ministry. As always, there were a lot of great articles published this month in the world of Children’s Ministry. I hope you will take a few moments to check them out.
To help identify what I view as the best, or most important, articles of the past month, I’ve added this little graphic next to titles of particularly pertinent posts. I think they’re all must-reads, but if you’re running short on time, you should make sure that you check out these articles at a minimum!Read More
It’s official. As of last Thursday, Dad in the Middle is officially out of the Kidmin Blog Madness competition, and that is no April Fool’s joke! We squeaked through in Round 1, but the stiff competition in Round 2 just turned out to be too much for this little blog. While we actually garnered more votes in round two than round one, and even almost snuck into second place, we ultimately succumbed to the great final round are part of the cream of the crop of children’s ministry blogs.
The four blogs that made the final are frequently featured in the The Children’s Ministry Blog Patrol. I am in the final stages of putting together March’s installment of the Children’s Ministry Blog Patrol, and I thought in honor of these four blogs I would feature some of my favorite posts from each blog over the course of the last month. If you are not familiar with these blogs, you should be! Perhaps these posts will help you make your decision, then go ahead on over to Kidmin Blog Madness and cast your vote!Read More
Five days ago, I started a grueling week of shameless self-promotion with this post: Dad in the Middle Needs YOUR VOTE Today!. That post encouraged you to vote for DAD IN THE MIDDLE in Ministry-to-Children.com’s new Kidmin Blog Madness Competition. As of the writing of this post, we were still barely hanging on to the fourth spot in the Eastern Division which (if the results hold out until Sunday) will advance us into the next round for our ultimate annihilation.
So, this post is a call to action! Head on over to the Kidmin Blog Madness Competition today and vote for DAD IN THE MIDDLE!
This is a trend-setting blog – especially when it comes to self-promotion. Since our initial post last Sunday, a number of other blogs have jumped on the bandwagon with their own shameless self-promotion. In order to be true to our loyal followers, I felt like it was my job to take advantage of everyone else’s self-promotion to promote DAD IN THE MIDDLE. As soon as the posts started to show up, I started hijacking other people’s blogs making comments encouraging people to vote for DAD IN THE MIDDLE – that D-A-D I-N T-H-E M-I-D-D-L-E (5th Seed – Eastern Division).Read More
