Welcome to our post-Mother’s Day installment of the Blog Patrol! We’re changing things up a little bit this week. Since The Blog Patrol started, I have been posting it at around 6:30 EST on Tuesday afternoon. Starting this week, I will be posting it in the early hours of Tuesday morning. So, what does that mean for you? It just means no Tuesday entries in this week’s installment. We’ll pick that up next week. So, welcome to the one time only 6 day week of The Blog Patrol! [For those of you who notice such things – yes I realize the preponderance of blog series in the Patrol this week. It was not by design. There just happen to be a lot of good series out there this week. Same for the heavy weighting towards children’s ministry this week.]

“The Blog Patrol” enters its second month of existence with this week’s post. I hope that everyone is finding it a useful summary of relevant blog articles. The response I’m getting is overwhelmingly positive, so I plan to continue “The Blog Patrol” indefinitely. There were two big conferences on Children’s Ministry this past week (Orange and Children Desiring God), which may explain the heavy Children’s Ministry content this week.

The Blog Patrol (April 28, 2009)

Welcome to this week’s installment of “The Blog Patrol.” I’ve tried to get back to the basics with this weeks’ Blog Patrol. In past weeks I have included more links for each day, but my goal with this process has been to include only the best posts. The problem I have been having is that there are so many good posts out there. That said, I have done my best to pick the best of the best for inclusion in the Blog Patrol, and tried to accept that that means that some good posts will be excluded. I hope that this process will help to keep the Blog Patrol more concise and useful to you the reader. If you have any suggestions for blogs that have not been featured in the Blog Patrol, please let me know. I look forward to hearing from you.

Screwtape on the Southern Baptist Convention

  • This blog (which was actually posted on March 30, but since this is the 1st Blog Patrol I thought I would include it) is based on one of my favorite books of all times – C.S. Lewis’ Screwtape Letters.   This is Trevin Wax’s take on what Screwtape might say about the current state of the Southern Baptist Convention.  Although addressed to one denomination, I think some of the truths from the post are applicable to many churches today.
