God bless you Wayne for your article. You have done much study and God will richly reward you for your efforts. I wanted to share a writing that I put together regarding the Day of the Lord.

Both the Old and New Testaments speak to believers regarding the teachings of the book of Revelation. Paul when writing to the Thessalonians encourages them regarding the event of God’s divine wrath upon the earth. In 2 Thessalonians 2:1 – 17 he describes the events of the Day of the Lord. The Day of the Lord is also referred to in scripture as “that day”, “that great day”, and “the day.” Judgment is always associated with the Day of the Lord and its related terms. It immediately follows the rapture of the Church and concludes with the termination of the 1000 year Millennial Reign. Paul saw importance in the Thessalonians understanding the events of the Day of the Lord. A major portion of the book of Revelation is the Day of the Lord. Present day believers as with the saints at Thessalonica need to understand the book of Revelation. Our faith is strengthened when we understand the spiritual significance of our present day. What are the spiritual forces of today that we war against striving to achieve? They are seeking to overthrow the rule of God as revealed in the book of Revelation. We understand our warfare better when we understand our enemy’s goal. It is great encouragement to us during our battles to know the rewards that await us for being faithful. Every attack, all battles, trials, tribulations and persecutions make up the purpose of Satan towards his ultimate goal. Effects from our response to his attacks have a bearing in the lives of others. Spiritual warfare of our day is a movement towards the Day of the Lord. What will be the culmination of the evil that we face? It will culminate into the manifestation of the Beast to further the purpose of Satan. God directs all activity in the universe to the fulfillment of His plan. No degree of the profane, reprobate, perverse, vial, or apostate can overpower the force of God from being guided toward the fulfillment of His plan. We are currently experiencing the development of events which will be fulfilled during the Day of the Lord; however, we will not be on earth during their fulfillment.
What is the spiritual significance of our day as it pertains to the Day of the Lord? How should we respond to the developing issues of our day that will climax during the Day of the Lord? Guidance for our lives in fulfilling God’s plan comes from the Lord. Prayer, fasting, and reading His word for wisdom for our day is better achieved if we understand His program. Our pursuit to indentify our ministry is more effective when we understand what our ministry is fulfilling. Ministry is guided in the direction to the fulfillment of God’s plan for the church, the Day of the Lord, and eternity. Studying and understanding the book of Revelation is truth imparted into the reader which will culminate in a more perfected walk. Fulfillment of our perfected walk does not save us. “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost.” (Titus 3:5) God’s fulfillment of His plan includes the fulfillment of His will for our lives.
Paul spoke of the Day of the Lord in Thessalonians because many of the believers had become disturbed thinking that the Day of the Lord had come. Paul explains to them that they will not be on earth during the Day of the Lord. Hope is the same message given to the church as given to the Thessalonians. Let us not be troubled nor shaken in mind regarding the crisis of this present world. Jesus will come back for us prior to the outpouring of God’s wrath. In the book of Revelation the church is raptured prior to the judgment of God upon the earth. We are glorified in white robes and rewarded with crowns. Great falling away from the true God by many people will indentify the Day of the Lord. Revealing of the Antichrist will deceive many people to worship him as the true God. He will make a false covenant with Israel and he will sit in the temple proclaiming to be the true God. “Who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sits in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.” (2Thess 2:4)

Question: With which present day crisis are you most concerned? In spite of the severity of the crisis do you have peace knowing that God’s plan for earth will still be fulfilled?
